How It Works

Policies and Guidelines for Consignment

Consigning Kids accepts gently used children’s clothing, baby equipment, toys and children’s furniture. All items should be no more than four years old, in excellent condition, freshly washed, free of stains, holes, fraying, tears, visible pet hair, or other imperfections. Clothing should be neatly folded and brought in a kitchen size trash bag. Take time to wash your items before brining them for consignment, especially items that have been in storage. Although they were clean when you put them in storage, they need to be washed again before bringing them for consignment.

Toys, furniture and baby gear are accepted year round and need to be in near perfect condition without any broken or missing parts. Items that require batteries must have working batteries to demonstrate that the item works. Please make sure that toys with pieces are secured and attached to the main piece.

Any item that has been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission will not be accepted for consignment.

For your convenience, we allow drop-offs at any time during our business hours.  We have a ONE bag limit on clothing and small toys. Do not bring items left over from a yard sale or other consignment stores/sale. If these items didn’t sell there, they won’t sell here either and there is no need to take up the space in our store for items that won’t sell. Going through items that are obviously unacceptable takes up valuable time; time that we can spend getting your acceptable items out on the sales floor.

Clothing items should be no more than four years old. Styles change even with children’s clothes and our shoppers are looking for current styles at reasonable prices. We are very selective in the clothing we accept for consignment. We have been in business for 20 years, and the reason we have been so successful is because of the quality of items we accept on consignment. Any item that does not meet our standards for consignment will be donated to the Stanly Community Christian Ministries. If you have an emotional attachment to your items, by all means, please keep them!

Spring and Summer clothes are accepted February through July. Fall and Winter clothes are accepted August through January.

Consignors will be paid 50% of the selling price for all items sold. Items are priced at what we feel is a fair price for used items, but we cannot guarantee the sale of any item. All clothing items that have not sold by the end of their intended season may be donated to the Stanly County Christian Ministries. Other items may be donated at our discretion.

Consignors may come to the store and “cash out” their account at any time. You an use your account to purchase items, get cash, check, or Venmo for monies owed.

First-time consignors will need to make an appointment to complete a consignor agreement with Consigning Kids and will be assigned an account number. Current consignors, please make sure your account number and your last name are clearly marked on the box or bag you bring each time you make a drop-off.

Consigning Kids reserves the right to refuse consignment of any item.

During processing, if we find any items that do not meet our standards for consignment, those items will be donated to the Stanly County Christian Ministries. We do not return unsold items to consignors.

Consigning Kids will make every attempt to protect your items; however, we assume no responsibility for any loss due to fire, theft, or damage.
